I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about two years ago and it took my doctor at least 5 years before she referred me to this specialist. Seems he could tell i had it with checking 18 pressure points about the body. So I'm led on the table and every time he touched me I'm shouting "ouch ". Now you ladies out there will be saying,"stupid bloke,he wants to go through childbirth now that hurts". Mind you if i was the first pregnant man,i don't think i would be sitting here writing this. I would be in a millionaires mansion in the caribbean somewhere.

Anyway back to the topic in hand the diagnosis was clinched when i told the doc about my short term memory loss. So he then makes me an appointment to see a neurologist. Which turned into a nightmare cause they tried to give me an m.r.i scan, but I'm claustrophobic like millions of other people on this planet. So i gets into this infernal machine and as soon as the banging started i screamed,"get me out of this torture chamber" and instantly started having a panic attack.

So cause i couldn't do that the next stage was a memory test, now this thing took about two hours and it was driving me nuts. If i wasn't bonkers before i went in, Then i certainly was when i came out. The third option was this spinal tap thingy, Were they stick a needle in your spine and draw off some fluid to test. Now, after three attempt and a lot of pain ( don't you ladies start on me again ha!) they still could not get this needle in the right place. to tense they said and i thought no wonder it flipping well hurts. So, they give me some sort of loony juice to relax me, don't know what it was but i wouldn't mind some more. That over with and the test results were good no, Parkinson's disease or whatever, cause that's the only reason the doc sent me to see the neurologist.

Anyway going back to this fibro fog and the stupid things that happen to you,or is it just me. The worst thing is spectacles, you are thinking to yourself where did i put the things? and you are either still wearing them or they are straight in front of your eyes and you cant see them for the want of trying.I have a portable short wave radio and instead of putting the ear phones to my ears i tried to put the jack plug there instead. Not that it would have made any difference cause in my case its no sense no feeling. The best one i read about was this bloke thought he had lost his wallet. He eventually found the thing in his fridge.

So this is were we go to always laugh at yourself cause if you don't you will end up in the the loony bin.I was in the military for 22 years and we always used to say that if you cant take a joke then you should not have joined. So i hope this has brought a smile to fellow sufferers with fibromyalgia keep your chin up and just laugh it off.

Oh,i forgot to end on a lighter note. I was in the chemists the other week, getting some hemorrhoid cream and suppositories and the assistant asked me if i new what to do with them. So i says"yes i do" and he said" I'm only asking, because some bloke brought his back the other day saying that i cant eat these they taste horrible".

This hub is terrific. My husband was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia and understands what you are going thru. I have just recently started looking into alternative medicine so he isn’t dependent on the drugs they give him, and came across Mobu Herbals. It is all organic and so far works wonders. I am planning on writing a hub about it in the future. Hang in there, my husband said if the worst that has happened was that you lost your wallet in the fridge, then you are doing good.

I have a dear friend who has suffered many years with this affliction. I am passing it on to her to read as i'm sure you'll find your hub quite informative. Thanks so much for writing this. I like your style and will be visiting you often!

I totally understand what you are going through, as you know I have fibromyalgia too, when the Doctor, who helped me finally get diagnosed after 16 years, sent mt to more than a handful of specialists and different and uncomfortable procedure and blood test, I felt like a guinea pig! I am so happy that you can laugh about it, I do too. If I couldn't, I don't think I could live with it. Life may not be what we want it to be, but we should try to make the best of it and make fun of it. :)

Thank you for making me laugh this mornging.

The good thing is that fibromyalgia is well-treatable, both the pain and symptoms like fibro fog. You just need to find a doctor who is open to trying new treatments and who realizes there's more that can be done about fibro than just symptom relief.

hahahah!!! You are very funny. I like your sense of humor.

Here's one for you: One time I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone and was about to go out so I was frantically looking for my phone. (I couldn't leave the house without my phone) I even told my boyfriend I couldn't find my bl---- phone then all of a sudden I realized I was talking on it.

thor6, sometimes our ailings are nothing but a warning sign from God or Destiny, that means we are doing something wrong with our body, with our life. Wrong food, job, no job, lifestyle, too much stress. We have to stop, turn around and rethink everything we are doing and try to change it. Anyway I know it's easier said then done. But whatever you do, do not let doctors treat you as a laboratory experimental rat (monkey). They sometimes forget that you are a human being and very often just need educational advice not a pill.
